Allah—the Exalted—also mentions the questions they posed about the signs, questions by which they hoped to determine whether he was a truthful Prophet or a liar. Thus He says:
“And they ask you about Dhu’l-Qarnayn” ⦗18:83⦘.

And He says:
“Indeed, in Joseph and his brothers there are signs for those who inquire” ⦗12:7⦘,
up to His words:
“That is from the tidings of the unseen which We reveal to you; you were not with them when they resolved upon their plan while they were scheming” ⦗12:102⦘,
up to His words:
“And how many a sign in the heavens and on earth do they pass by while turning away from it; and most of them do not believe in Allah except while associating others with Him” ⦗12:105⦘,
up to His words:
“Have they not travelled through the land and seen how the end was for those before them? The home of the Hereafter is better for those who are mindful—will you not reason? Until, when the messengers despaired and thought that they had been denied, Our help came to them, and We saved whom We willed, and Our might cannot be repelled from the guilty people. Surely in their stories there is a lesson for people of sound understanding. This is not a narration that could be fabricated; rather, it is a confirmation of what came before it, a detailed exposition of all things, and guidance and mercy for a people who believe” ⦗12:109⦘.
