Al-Jawāb as-Sahīh li-man baddala dīn al-Masīh - Ibn Taimiya - (5/373)

Thereupon he said, “Give me your hand so that I may pledge my allegiance to you upon Islam.” The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, accepted his pledge, and then said, “And for your people as well?” He replied, “For my people as well.” End of the report.

Ibn ʿAbbās also narrated:

Al-Walid ibn al-Mughirah came to the Prophet, and the Prophet recited to him from the Quran:

“Indeed Allah commands justice, excellence, and giving to relatives, and He forbids obscenity, wrongdoing, and transgression. He admonishes you so that you may take heed.” (Surah al-Nahl 16:90)

Al-Walid said, “Recite it again,” so the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, repeated it. Al-Walid then declared, “By Allah, it has a sweetness, upon it is an elegance, its upper part is richly fruitful, and its lower part…”

فَقَالَ: هَاتِ يَدَكَ أُبَايِعُكَ عَلَى الْإِسْلَامِ، قَالَ: فَبَايَعَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ: " وَعَلَى قَوْمِكَ " ، فَقَالَ: وَعَلَى قَوْمِي» . الْحَدِيثَ. وَعَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ: «أَنَّ الْوَلِيدَ بْنَ الْمُغِيرَةِ جَاءَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ، فَقَرَأَ عَلَيْهِ مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ: {إِنَّ اللَّهَ يَأْمُرُ بِالْعَدْلِ وَالْإِحْسَانِ وَإِيتَاءِ ذِي الْقُرْبَى وَيَنْهَى عَنِ الْفَحْشَاءِ وَالْمُنْكَرِ وَالْبَغْيِ يَعِظُكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَذَكَّرُونَ} [النحل: ٩٠] . قَالَ: أَعِدْ، فَأَعَادَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ: " وَاللَّهِ إِنَّ لَهُ لَحَلَاوَةً، وَإِنَّ عَلَيْهِ لِطَلَاوَةً، وَإِنَّ أَعْلَاهُ لِمُثْمِرٌ، وَإِنَّ أَسْفَلَهُ.
