—what He narrated in the account of Noah:
“Those are among the reports of the unseen that We reveal to you. Neither you nor your people knew them before this; so be patient, for the end is in favor of the God-fearing.” ⦗Hūd 49⦘.

Thus the Exalted stated that the information He conveyed to him of the unseen was something neither he nor his people had previously known. Since his people possessed no knowledge of it—whether gained from the People of the Scripture or from anyone else—and because he had lived only among his own people, who were fully aware that they themselves had never known these matters, and who also knew that he had not studied them nor associated with anyone beyond their own circle, while his own people had no knowledge of it, this revelation became an irrefutable proof against his own people and against all who learned of their situation.

The same is true of what He told them about the story of Adam: the angels’ prostration to him, Satan’s temptation that led him to eat from the tree, and Adam’s subsequent descent along with his wife. Likewise, He informed them of Noah and of his remaining among his people for one thousand years save fifty—that is, nine hundred and fifty years.
