Al-Jawāb as-Sahīh li-man baddala dīn al-MasīhIbn Taimiya

of the very realities of things.

Muhammad—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—was granted a unique divine support: Allah protected him from the people so that he never feared to utter the truth, and He endowed him with an eloquence and a breadth of knowledge that He had given to none before him. Accordingly, the Book with which he was sent contains disclosures of the unseen that no other scripture contains.

Allah also strengthened his community so that they could shoulder everything he placed upon them. Thus they were unlike the people of the Torah, who were entrusted with the Torah yet failed to carry it, and unlike the people of the Gospel, to whom the Messiah said, “I still have much to tell you, but you are unable to bear it.”

There is no doubt that the community of Muhammad possesses sounder intellects, stronger faith, and more perfect affirmation and striving. For that reason their knowledge, their inward deeds, and the faith residing in their hearts are greater, while the physical acts of worship required of previous nations were more burdensome.

The Exalted said:

“The Messenger has believed in what was revealed to him from his Lord, and so have the believers. Each of them believes in Allah, His angels, His scriptures, and His messengers. ‘We make no distinction between any of His messengers.’ And they say, ‘We hear and we obey. Your forgiveness, our Lord; to You is the destination.’—‘Allah does not burden a soul beyond its capacity. For it is what it has earned, and against it is what it has incurred. Our Lord, do not take us to task if we forget or err. Our Lord, do not lay upon us a burden as You laid upon those before us. Our Lord, do not impose upon us what we have not the strength to bear. Pardon us, forgive us, and have mercy on us. You are our Protector, so grant us victory over the disbelieving people.’” (Al-Baqarah 2:285–286)

And it is authentically established in the Ṣaḥīḥ that the Prophet—peace and blessings be upon him—said that Allah
