of the Scripture.”

He did not content himself with issuing bare commands and prohibitions; rather, he reproved them, chastised them, and threatened them.

Moreover, he made it clear that he does not speak on his own, but that he speaks everything he hears. This is a statement that everything he utters is revelation he hears—nothing acquired from other people or reached through his own deduction. This is a distinctive prerogative of Muhammad—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—for the Messiah and the prophets before him used to learn from others alongside what was revealed to them; thus they possessed knowledge in addition to what they heard from revelation.

Muhammad—peace and blessings be upon him—spoke only what he heard from revelation; he was simply conveying what he had been sent with. He was addressed with the divine words:

“Convey what has been revealed to you from your Lord; if you do not, you will not have conveyed His message. And Allah will protect you from the people.” (Al-Māʾidah 5:67)

Allah therefore guaranteed his protection so long as he delivered His messages. Because of that security, he guided mankind to the whole of the truth and delivered to them what no other prophet was able to convey, for fear of being killed—as they relate about the Messiah and others.

The Messiah himself stated that he had not disclosed to them everything he possessed and that they could not bear it, and they acknowledge that he was afraid of them whenever he informed them
