“Those to whom We granted the Scripture before it do indeed believe in it; and when it is recited to them they say, ‘We believe in it, for it is the truth from our Lord; we had already submitted before it came.’ Such people will be granted their reward twice over because they remained steadfast, they repel evil with good, and they spend out of what We have provided for them. When they hear idle talk they turn away from it and say, ‘Our deeds are ours and your deeds are yours. Peace be upon you—we have no desire to keep company with the ignorant.’” (Al-Qasas 28:52-55).

Al-Bayhaqi narrates in his work Dalāʾil al-Nubuwwah wa-Aʿlām al-Risālah:
“Abū ʿAbd Allāh al-Ḥāfiẓ informed us; Abū al-ʿAbbās Muḥammad ibn Yaʿqūb informed us…”
