—it accords with what the Seal of the Messengers foretold, for he said in an authentic hadith:

“The time is soon coming when the son of Mary will descend among you as a just arbiter and an equitable leader. He will break the cross, slay the swine, and abolish the jizyah.”

He also declared in another sound hadith:

“When the one-eyed, lying Messiah of misguidance emerges, Jesus son of Mary will descend at the white minaret to the east of Damascus, wearing two lightly-dyed garments and resting his hands upon the shoulders of two angels. The Antichrist will see him and dissolve the way salt melts in water; Jesus will overtake him and kill him with a spear at the eastern gate of Lod, only a dozen or so steps away.”

This is the meaning of the Almighty’s words:

مُوَافِقٌ لِمَا أَخْبَرَ بِهِ خَاتَمُ الرُّسُلِ، حَيْثُ قَالَ فِي الْحَدِيثِ الصَّحِيحِ: «يُوشِكُ أَنْ يَنْزِلَ فِيكُمُ ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ حَكَمًا عَدْلًا، وَإِمَامًا مُقْسِطًا، فَيَكْسِرُ الصَّلِيبَ، وَيَقْتُلُ الْخِنْزِيرَ، وَيَضَعُ الْجِزْيَةَ» . وَأَخْبَرَ فِي الْحَدِيثِ الصَّحِيحِ: «أَنَّهُ إِذَا خَرَجَ مَسِيحُ الضَّلَالَةِ الْأَعْوَرُ الْكَذَّابُ، نَزَلَ عِيسَى ابْنُ مَرْيَمَ عَلَى الْمَنَارَةِ الْبَيْضَاءِ شَرْقِيَّ دِمَشْقَ، بَيْنَ مَهْرُودَتَيْنِ، وَاضِعًا يَدَيْهِ عَلَى مَنْكِبَيْ مَلَكَيْنِ. فَإِذَا رَآهُ الدَّجَّالُ انْمَاعَ كَمَا يَنْمَاعُ الْمِلْحُ فِي الْمَاءِ، فَيُدْرِكُهُ فَيَقْتُلُهُ بِالْحَرْبَةِ عِنْدَ بَابِ لُدٍّ الشَّرْقِيِّ، عَلَى بِضْعَ عَشْرَةَ خُطُوَاتٍ مِنْهُ» ، وَهَذَا تَفْسِيرُ قَوْلِهِ تَعَالَى:
