up to His words:

“Yet before it there was the Book of Moses, a leader and a mercy; and this is a confirming Book, in clear Arabic, so that it may warn those who do wrong and bring glad tidings to those who excel in goodness.” ⦗Al-Aḥqāf: 12⦘.

And He—exalted is He—also says:

“They did not value Allah as He deserves when they said, ‘Allah has not sent down anything to any human being.’ Say, ‘Who then sent down the Book that Moses brought as light and guidance for mankind?’” ⦗Al-Anʿām: 91⦘.

He, the Most High, further says:

“Then We gave Moses the Book, completing [Our favour] upon the one who did good.” ⦗Al-Anʿām: 154⦘.

Now, the word “Torah” embraces all the writings in the hands of the two communities of scripture, so that the Psalms and other books are subsumed under that title. His—the Prophet’s—name and description appear openly in the Torah; that testimony is still to be found in the texts they possess and is repeated with the greatest emphasis. Their recognition of it is as clear as their recognition of their own children. Therefore, if these books—which the majority of them acknowledge—have indeed survived intact, then nothing of that testimony has been suppressed; rather, it remains just as it always was.
