and this is further supported by the fact that Allah frequently links the Torah and the Gospel to the Quran, while He mentions the Zabur (Psalms) on its own. Thus He, exalted is He, says:

“Alif-Lam-Mim. Allah—there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Self-Sustaining. He has sent down to you the Book in truth, confirming what came before it, and He sent down the Torah and the Gospel earlier as guidance for mankind, and He sent down the Criterion.” ⦗Al ʿImran: 1⦘

He also says:

“Indeed, Allah has purchased from the believers their lives and their wealth in exchange for Paradise. They fight in the path of Allah, kill and are killed—a promise binding upon Him in the Torah, the Gospel, and the Quran.” ⦗Al-Tawbah: 111⦘

And His words, exalted be He:

“Whom they find written with them in the Torah and the Gospel…” ⦗Al-Aʿrāf: 157⦘

The People of the Book do indeed find him recorded in the scriptures they possess, and in many of them his mention is clearer than what is found in the Book of Moses alone. Therefore, if by “Torah” one means the entire collection of scriptures, no intelligent person can doubt the abundance of references to him, to his description, and to the description of his community in those writings; and it is evident that Allah intended by this citation to present them as proof
