the praise of Ahmad filled the earth; by his right hand he laid hold of the necks of the nations; the land was illumined by his light, and his horses coursed through the sea.

A further proof lies in the Torah that is now in their possession. In its first book—one of the five books—in the ninth chapter, in the story of Hagar, we read that when she left Sarah an angel addressed her, saying:

“O Hagar, whence have you come and whither are you going?”

After she explained her plight, he said: “Return, for I shall greatly multiply your descendants and your offspring until they cannot be numbered. Behold, you are with child and will bear a son; we shall call him Ishmael, for Allah has heard your humility and submission. Your son will be a wild man among men; his hand will be over all, and every hand will be with him, and he will dwell along the borders of all his brothers.”
