This, then, is an explicit affirmation of the prophethood of Muhammad—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—the one who brought the divine mission from the mountains of “Paran,” so that the heavens and the earth were filled with his praise and the praise offered by his community. Never has anyone else arisen from the territory called “Paran” whose praise, together with that of his followers, filled heaven and earth—none but Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him. The Messiah was never in the land of Paran at all, and Moses was addressed only at the Mount, and that Mount is not part of Paran. Even if the wilderness between the Mount and the Hijaz forms part of Paran, Allah did not reveal the Torah there. Indeed, the glad tidings in the Torah refer to Mount Sinai, whereas the Gospel’s glad tidings point to Mount (Seir).

Words to the same effect are also transmitted from the prophecy of (Habakkuk), in which he said: “God came from Teman, and the Holy One shone forth upon the mountains of (Paran), and the earth was filled with…”
