Khazars and Slavs: were they to follow him, it would be better for them than what they presently profess, and every other class of unbelievers concedes that his followers are better than the rest. As for those who are not People of the Scripture—the vast majority of them— they acknowledge that the religion of the Muslims is superior to the religion of the Jews and the Christians.

At this point one may say:

The man who brought a religion that all the peoples of the earth prefer above every other cannot possibly be counted among the most impious of mankind, nor among those most deserving of Allah’s anger and punishment.

Anyone who claims, “I am the Messenger of Allah”: if he is truthful, he is among the best of mankind and the most entitled to Allah’s pleasure and reward; but if he is lying, he is among the worst of mankind and the most entitled to His wrath and punishment. Now, when such immense good, knowledge, and guidance—beneficial for both this world and the next and greater than what has come from all creation—have issued from him, it is inconceivable that he be among the most hardened unbelievers worthy of Allah’s anger and chastisement. On the contrary, he must be among the finest of mankind; indeed, he is the very best of them and the most deserving of Allah’s pleasure and reward.
