As for Muhammad’s Companions—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—one of them declared to him on the Day of Badr:
“By Allah, we will never say to you what Moses’ people said: ‘Go, you and your Lord, and fight; we will sit right here’ [al-Maʾidah 24]. Rather, we shall fight ahead of you, behind you, on your right, and on your left. By the One Who sent you with the truth, if you were to lead us into this sea and plunge into it, we would plunge in with you; and if you were to march with us to Birku’l-Ghimad, we would march with you.”
وَأَمَّا أَصْحَابُ مُحَمَّدٍ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ -
فَقَالَ لَهُ قَائِلُهُمْ يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ:
«وَاللَّهِ لَا نَقُولُ لَكَ كَمَا قَالَ قَوْمُ مُوسَى:
{فَاذْهَبْ أَنْتَ وَرَبُّكَ فَقَاتِلَا إِنَّا هَاهُنَا قَاعِدُونَ}
[المائدة: ٢٤]

" لَكِنْ نُقَاتِلُ أَمَامَكَ وَوَرَاءَكَ وَعَنْ يَمِينِكَ وَعَنْ يَسَارِكَ. وَالَّذِي بَعَثَكَ بِالْحَقِّ لَوِ اسْتَعْرَضْتَ بِنَا هَذَا الْبَحْرَ فَخُضْتَهُ لَخُضْنَاهُ مَعَكَ، وَلَوْ سِرْتَ بِنَا إِلَى بِرْكِ الْغِمَادِ لَسِرْنَا مَعَك» .
