two—indeed, three—and thus you have contradicted yourselves.
These and other differences plainly expose the falsity of your attempt to liken yourselves to the Muslims.
Eighth Point
You say, “Likewise we Christians: the reason we declare that God is three hypostases—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit—is that the Gospel states it.”
We reply: This claim is false. Neither the Gospel nor any prophetic scripture ever proclaimed that God is three hypostases, nor did any prophet single the Lord out with just three attributes to the exclusion of the rest.
Neither the Messiah nor anyone else ever said, “God is the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit,” or that He possesses one hypostasis that is the Son and another that is the Holy Spirit. No one ever said that the Son is His Word, His knowledge, His wisdom, or His speech, or that the Holy Spirit is His life. No attribute of His was ever called “son” or “child.” No one ever described any of the Lord’s attributes as “begotten,” converted the Eternal One without beginning into something begotten, or declared—of anything, whether eternal or created—“This is true God from true God.”
No one ever claimed that any of Allah’s attributes are deities, or that the Word is a god and the Spirit a god. No one ever said that God united—either in His essence or in His attributes—with any human being. All of this is a fabrication of your own, a departure from both revelation and reason; it contradicts the revealed books and sound intellects alike.
You are therefore among those about whom it is said:
“And they will say, ‘If only we had listened or reasoned, we would not have been among the companions of the Blaze.’” (Qur’an 67:10)
