So when the Jews said, “Allah’s hand is tied up,” intending thereby that He is miserly, Allah declared them liars and made plain that He is ever-Generous and Most Noble. The affirmation that He possesses two hands is found in the Torah and in the other revealed scriptures, just as it is found in the Quran. Thus, nothing in this clashes with what the messengers have brought, nor does it contradict sound reason. Indeed, the Exalted said to Iblis: “What prevented you from bowing to what I created with My two hands?” ⦗Ṣād: 75⦘. He thereby informed us that He created Adam with His two hands, and rigorously authentic hadiths corroborate this.
As for the wording “the two eyes,” it is not in the Quran; rather, it appears in a hadith. Al-Ashʿarī relates from the People of the Sunnah and Hadith that they say: Allah has two eyes. What occurs in the Quran, however, is: “…so that you may be brought up under My watchful eye,” and, “Build the Ark under Our eyes and Our revelation.” ⦗Hūd: 39–37⦘
