Thus the Prophet—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—made it clear that those people are the ones who will actually enter Hell, and that this entry is exactly what he negated for the companions of Hudaybiyyah. As for al-wurūd, it is the passage of people over the Bridge (ṣirāṭ), as he explained in the sound hadith reported by Jābir ibn ʿAbd Allah. That passage is not called the “entry” that incurs punishment for the sinners and is averted from the God-fearing—and there are many similar instances.
As for the Quran’s references to the statements of the unbelievers, their arguments, and the answers given to them, they are exceedingly numerous. Sometimes He debates them about monotheism, sometimes about prophethood, sometimes about the Resurrection, and sometimes about matters of divine law, always with the most excellent and complete proofs, as the Exalted says:
“The disbelievers say, ‘Why was the Quran not sent down to him all at once?’ We have done so that We might steady your heart thereby, and We have revealed it in distinct stages. And never do they bring you any argument but that We bring you the truth and the best exposition.” (al-Furqan 32-33).
