He said: In the tenth year of his reign a patriarch was appointed over Constantinople who asserted that the Holy Spirit is a created being; he served for ten years and then died.
After that, the patriarch of Antioch was transferred to Constantinople, and he too was a Manāni.
He added: As for the people of Egypt and Alexandria, most of them were Arians and Manānians. They overran the churches of Egypt and seized them, then assailed the patriarch of Alexandria to kill him, so he fled and went into hiding. They thereupon installed a Manāni patriarch in Alexandria.
During the same period a military commander came from Constantinople to Alexandria; he was an Arian. He exiled the Melkite patriarch and appointed an Arian in his place.
When the commander departed, the Melkites killed that Arian patriarch and burned his body.
