Abu ʿUbayd Allah, who was accompanied by one of his commanders named Ḥubāsa. This occurred during the caliphate of al-Muʿtaḍid billah. His governor over Egypt at the time was his freedman, the well-known Takin al-Hajib—a Turkish officer—who mobilized against the Westerners. Reinforcements then reached him from the East under the eunuch-general known as Mūnis al-Ustadh.
