Anas also narrated that a delegation from Yemen came to the Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—and said, “Send with us a trustworthy man who will teach us the Sunnah and Islam.” The Prophet took the hand of Abu ʿUbaydah ibn al-Jarrah and said, “This is the trustee of this community.”
Both Ṣaḥīḥ collections likewise relate—from Ḥudhayfah ibn al-Yamān—that he said:
“The people of Najrān came to the Messenger of Allah—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—and said, ‘Messenger of Allah, send to us a trustworthy man.’ He replied, ‘I will assuredly send you a truly trustworthy man—truly trustworthy.’”
