nor in any part of it; rather, sheer necessity compels you to acknowledge it and to stand together with us upon it.

All praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds, for His enabling grace. We ask Him to perfect His favor upon us, to keep guiding us by His power, and to let us live and die upon Islam—without associating anything with Him, without denying Him, and without altering the faith. Truly He is competent over all things, and every difficulty is easy for Him. To whoever fears Him, keeps his duty to Him, seeks what is with Him, and does not deviate in his religion, He is ever Compassionate and Merciful.

I say: This is the last of what I have transcribed from the words of al-Hasan ibn Ayyub. He was among the distinguished Christian scholars and the most knowledgeable of people regarding their doctrines; hence his transmission of their statements is more reliable than that of others.

In his book he sets out refutations of the rational and scriptural proofs they advance, and presents rational and scriptural arguments that invalidate their doctrine, clarifying the matter.

We shall, in addition, cite the words of those who have reported their sectarian positions from among their own leading champions of Christianity, and we shall reproduce the arguments they themselves have put forward—such as Ibn al-Batriq,
