“the servant should not be greater than his master.”
He said: The Messiah stated this only to the disciples, and he pointed out that no wording is known from him that says, “He was not born, and he did not eat or drink.”
He said: And in the Gospel of John it says:
“When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am he, and I do nothing of myself; I speak only what my Father has taught me.”
He also said elsewhere:
“I have been sent by God as a teacher.”
And he said to his companions:
“Let us leave this town, for a prophet is not honoured in his own city.”
The Gospel further relates that a woman saw the Messiah and said, “You are indeed that prophet whose coming we have been awaiting.” The Messiah replied, “You have spoken rightly; blessed are you.”
And he said to his disciples:
“Just as my Father has sent me, so I am sending you.”
