one of your altars, while the congregation stand in apprehension, awaiting—so you claim—the descent of the Holy Spirit from heaven upon his supplication. He opens his prayer and says:
“May the grace of Jesus the Messiah, the love of God the Father, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be perfected upon us and upon you, for ever and ever.”
He then seals his prayer with the same words. This is an explicit confession of shirk, a belittling of Allah’s majesty and might, for you have assigned blessings and gifts to someone beneath Him—someone who, by your own admission, merely receives and is empowered by Allah—while you have left for Allah, after the Messiah, nothing but “love,” and for His Spirit only a “share.”
He said: “We have found that you reproach the Jacobites for saying that Mary gave birth to God—far exalted and glorified is Allah above that—yet in the Creed of Faith that you yourselves acknowledge it is affirmed that the Messiah is true God and that he was born of Mary. What, then, is the quarrel, and where lies the difference? And why do you repudiate their statement that the one who was killed and crucified was God—Allah is far above such a claim?
“Your own creed declares: ‘We believe in the Lord Christ who, according to the report concerning him and his state, was born of Mary, suffered, and was crucified in the time of the king Pilate.’”
