The narrator continues: At this, the Companions of the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, strained forward, each hoping he would be chosen. The Prophet then said, “Stand up, Abū ʿUbaydah ibn al-Jarrāḥ.” When Abū ʿUbaydah rose, the Messenger of Allah declared, “This is the trustworthy one of this community.”

In Sunan Abī Dāwūd and other collections it is reported: Abū Dāwūd said, “Musarraf ibn ʿAmr al-Yāmī informed us; Yūnus—meaning Ibn Bukayr—narrated to us; Asbāṭ ibn Naṣr al-Hamdānī narrated to us from Ismāʿīl ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Qurashī, from Ibn ʿAbbās, who said: ‘The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, concluded a treaty with the people of Najrān for two thousand robes…’”}
