He mentions only Jesus, for people say, “Jesus is the Messiah,” as shown by His words:
“The Messiah, son of Mary, was nothing but a messenger; other messengers had passed away before him.” ⦗Al-Maʾidah: 75⦘
He thus makes it clear that the Messiah is merely a messenger, not a deity, and that he is the son of Mary—what issues from Mary is the human nature. He also says:
“The Messiah, Jesus son of Mary, is only a messenger of Allah and His word that He cast to Mary, and a spirit from Him. So believe in Allah and His messengers, and do not say, ‘Three.’ Cease; that will be better for you. Allah is but one God—far exalted is He above having a son. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth, and Allah is sufficient as Guardian. The Messiah will never disdain to be a servant of Allah, nor will the angels who are nearest to Him. Whoever spurns His worship and grows arrogant, He will gather them all to Himself.” ⦗Al-Nisāʾ: 171–172⦘
He, exalted is He, also says:
“The Christians say, ‘The Messiah is the son of Allah.’ Such is a statement that issues from their mouths; they imitate the saying of those who disbelieved before. May Allah destroy them—how deluded they are!” ⦗Al-Tawbah: 30⦘
And He, exalted is He, says:
“Those who say, ‘Allah is the Messiah, son of Mary,’ have indeed disbelieved. Say: ‘Who can hold back anything from Allah if He wills to destroy the Messiah, son of Mary, his mother, and everyone on earth?’” ⦗Al-Maʾidah: 17⦘.
