Al-Jawāb as-Sahīh li-man baddala dīn al-MasīhIbn Taimiya

—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—whose teachings are known by sheer necessity; just as it is necessarily known that he affirmed Jesus—peace be upon him—and upheld his prophethood. Had the Jews, for example, claimed that Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, denied the Messiah and rejected his mission, their claim would have been no different from the Christians’ allegation that he said, “He is the Lord of all worlds, and the divine nature has united with the human nature.” Yet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, conveyed from Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, that anyone who says such a thing is an unbeliever, and he repeatedly recited revelations that contradict it, as in Allah’s statement:
“Those who say, ‘Allah is the Messiah, son of Mary,’ have certainly disbelieved. Say: Who then could prevent Allah, if He so willed, from destroying the Messiah, son of Mary, his mother, and everyone on earth altogether? To Allah belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth and whatever lies between them; He creates what He wills, and Allah is capable of all things.” ⦗al-Māʾida 5:17⦘.
And His words:
“Those who say, ‘Allah is the Messiah, son of Mary,’ have indeed disbelieved; whereas the Messiah said, ‘O Children of Israel, worship Allah—my Lord and your Lord. Whoever associates anything with Allah, Allah has forbidden Paradise to him, and his refuge is the Fire; and the wrongdoers will have no helpers.’ Indeed, those who say, ‘Allah is one of three,’ have certainly disbelieved. There is no deity except the One God, and if they do not desist from what they say, a painful punishment will befall the disbelievers among them. Will they not then repent to Allah…” ⦗al-Māʾida 5:72-74⦘.
