Al-Jawāb as-Sahīh li-man baddala dīn al-MasīhIbn Taimiya

Moreover, Moses would draw out his hand and it would emerge shining white, free from any blemish. This is greater than the removal of leprosy’s traces wrought by the Messiah, for leprosy is a familiar disease—the marvel lies only in its cure. But for a hand to become radiant white without leprosy and then return to its former state involves two wonders unparalleled by anything else.

Again, God split the sea for Moses: the Children of Israel passed through it, while Pharaoh and his troops drowned. The brilliance of this sign and God’s destruction of Moses’ enemy find no equivalent in the life of the Messiah.

God also fed the Israelites—vast in number—at Moses’ hand with manna and quails, and when he struck the rock He caused twelve springs to gush forth each day, sufficient for them all.

This surpasses the Messiah’s bringing down the heavenly table spread, his turning water into wine, and the other reports related about him—may God’s blessings and peace be upon them all.

Moses was further supported against his foe with lice, frogs, blood, and other signs for which the Messiah had no counterpart. Had the disciples been messengers whom God addressed as He spoke to Moses from the bush, they would have been equal to Moses—yet the Messiah himself possessed no signs comparable to those of Moses. And if the Messiah were the Godhead—
