So do you imagine that he thereby affirmed two gods—one his own God and another the God of the three?!
Third angle: The coordinating particle (wa, “and”) is sometimes used to indicate a difference of entities and at other times a difference of attributes. Consider His words:
“Glorify the name of your Lord, the Most High” [Al-Aʿlā 87:1] (1);
“who created and proportioned” [87:2] (2);
“who ordained and guided” [87:3] (3);
“who brought forth the pasture” [87:4] (4);
“then turned it into withered, black stubble” [87:5].
The One who created is the very One who determined and brought forth.
The same applies to His saying, “your God and the God of your forefathers” [Al-Baqarah 2:133]; He—glorified be He—is one and the same.
Abraham, the Close Friend, peace and blessings be upon him, said to his people:
“Have you considered what you have been worshipping” [Ash-Shuʿarāʾ 26:75] (75),
“you and your earliest forefathers?” [26:76] (76),
“Truly they are enemies to me, except the Lord of the worlds” [26:77] (77),
“who created me and therefore guides me” [26:78] (78),
“who gives me food and drink” [26:79] (79),
“and when I fall ill, He heals me” [26:80] (80),
“who will cause me to die and then revive me” [26:81] (81),
“and who, I hope, will forgive me my sin on the Day of Judgment” [26:82] (82).
Thus, the One who created him is the very One who feeds and gives him drink, and He is the One who will cause him to die and then bring him back to life.
