Section: Refutation of their claim, “Statements of this sort abound in the Books of God revealed through the mouths of the prophets and messengers.”
They say: “The like of this statement is found in great quantity in the Books of God revealed through the prophets and messengers. All Christians—though their tongues differ and they are scattered across the seven regions of the world while clinging to the Christian religion—possess one and the same wording, a single text that they received from the disciples. Those disciples warned them, turned them away from idol-worship to the knowledge of God Most High, and entrusted each nation with it in its own language. It has remained in that very form to this day.”
The answer to this may be given from several angles.
First: what applies to the rest of the passages they adduce is exactly what has already been mentioned. Moreover, some of the Christian scholars whom Allah guided have spoken on this matter. They exposed the alterations their coreligionists introduced into the meanings of the scriptures in their hands, and they cited explicit texts of their own which state that the Messiah is a servant of Allah and not Allah Himself—texts that clearly invalidate their doctrine. Such people have abandoned the decisive verses and followed what is ambiguous.
For this reason Allah revealed about them:
“As for those in whose hearts is deviation, they pursue whatever is ambiguous in it, seeking discord and seeking its interpretation, although no one knows its true interpretation except Allah. Those firmly grounded in knowledge say, ‘We believe in it; all of it is from our Lord.’ Yet none take heed except people of sound understanding.” ⦗Q 3:7⦘
