Thus it is through it that guidance and victory are obtained, as the Exalted One says:
“Remember Our servants Abraham, Isaac and Jacob—men of power and insight.” ⦗Sad 38:45⦘.
Accordingly, He referred to it as the Spirit of God; this is just like His words:
“Those in whose hearts He has inscribed faith and whom He has supported with a Spirit from Him.” ⦗Al-Mujādilah 58:22⦘,
His words:
“And so We have revealed to you a Spirit from Our command; you did not know what the Scripture was, nor faith, but We made it a light by which We guide whom We will of Our servants.” ⦗Ash-Shūrā 42:52⦘,
and His statement:
“He sends down the angels with the Spirit, by His command.” ⦗An-Naḥl 16:2⦘.
Whatever He has sent down is therefore called the guidance of God, the Spirit of God, the revelation of God, the light of God, and the like.
Likewise, when He mentioned His prophets from the descendants of Abraham, He said:
“And of his offspring: David, Solomon, Job, Joseph, Moses and Aaron—thus do We reward the doers of good.” ⦗Al-Anʿām 6:84⦘ (84)
“and Zachariah, John, Jesus and Elias—each one of the righteous.” ⦗6:85⦘ (85)
“and Ishmael, Elisha, Jonah and Lot—each We favoured above all people.” ⦗6:86⦘ (86)
“and from their fathers, their descendants and their brothers—We chose them and guided them to a straight path.” ⦗6:87⦘ (87)
“That is the guidance of God; He guides with it whom He wills of His servants.” ⦗6:88⦘.
