Section: Isaiah’s words announcing the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him
They said:
Isaiah also said: “A boy has been born to us, a son has been granted to us. Authority rests upon his shoulders and between his shoulder-blades, and he shall be called by the following names: ‘King, of exalted purpose, wondrous in direction, a mighty God, one vested with power, the Chief of Peace for every age; his dominion is perfect and will never perish.’”
It is therefore said: This prophecy contains no clear proof that the one intended is the Messiah, peace be upon him; and even if it were intended for the Messiah, it would not establish the point they are trying to make. Rather, it can be argued that it refers to Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, for he is the one whose sovereignty is borne upon his shoulders and between his shoulder-blades in two respects: first, by virtue of the Seal of Prophethood found on one of his shoulders— a sign of prophethood foretold by the earlier prophets and a mark showing that he is their seal.
