and that the Messiah—peace be upon him—had his light shine upon the earth, just as the light of Moses, peace be upon him, had shone before him, and as the light of Muhammad, blessings and peace be upon him, shone after him.

Allah the Exalted said to Muhammad, blessings and peace be upon him:
“Indeed, We have sent you as a witness, a bearer of glad tidings, and a warner” (Al-Aḥzāb 45). (45)

“And as one who calls to Allah by His permission and as a radiant lamp” (Al-Aḥzāb 46).

Thus Allah called him “a radiant lamp,” whereas He named the sun “a blazing lamp.” The radiant lamp is more perfect than the blazing one, for the latter gives off heat that can harm, while the former guides by its light without causing pain through its glare.

Allah the Exalted also said to Muhammad, blessings and peace be upon him:
“So those who believe in him, honor him, support him, and follow the light sent down with him—it is they who will prosper” (Al-Aʿrāf 157).

And He said:
“Thus We have revealed to you a spirit from Our command. You did not know what the Scripture was, nor what faith is, but We made it a light by which We guide whom We will of Our servants. And indeed you guide to a straight path” (Ash-Shūrā 52). (52)

“The path of Allah, to whom belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on earth. Surely, to Allah all matters return.” (Ash-Shūrā 53)

عَلَيْهِ الصَّلَاةُ وَالسَّلَامُ أَشْرَقَ نُورُهُ عَلَى الْأَرْضِ! كَمَا أَشْرَقَ قَبْلَهُ نُورُ مُوسَى عَلَيْهِ الصَّلَاةُ وَالسَّلَامُ، وَأَشْرَقَ بَعْدَهُ نُورُ مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ. وَقَدْ قَالَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى لِمُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: {إِنَّا أَرْسَلْنَاكَ شَاهِدًا وَمُبَشِّرًا وَنَذِيرًا} [الأحزاب: ٤٥] (٤٥) {وَدَاعِيًا إِلَى اللَّهِ بِإِذْنِهِ وَسِرَاجًا مُنِيرًا} [الأحزاب: ٤٦] . فَسَمَّاهُ اللَّهُ سِرَاجًا مُنِيرًا، وَسَمَّى الشَّمْسَ سِرَاجًا وَهَّاجًا، وَالسِّرَاجُ الْمُنِيرُ أَكْمَلُ مِنَ السِّرَاجِ الْوَهَّاجِ، فَإِنَّ الْوَهَّاجَ لَهُ حَرَارَةٌ تُؤْذِي، وَالْمُنِيرَ يُهْتَدَى بِنُورِهِ مِنْ غَيْرِ أَذًى بِوَهَجِهِ. وَقَالَ تَعَالَى لِمُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: {فَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا بِهِ وَعَزَّرُوهُ وَنَصَرُوهُ وَاتَّبَعُوا النُّورَ الَّذِي أُنْزِلَ مَعَهُ أُولَئِكَ هُمُ الْمُفْلِحُونَ} [الأعراف: ١٥٧] . وَقَالَ تَعَالَى: {وَكَذَلِكَ أَوْحَيْنَا إِلَيْكَ رُوحًا مِنْ أَمْرِنَا مَا كُنْتَ تَدْرِي مَا الْكِتَابُ وَلَا الْإِيمَانُ وَلَكِنْ جَعَلْنَاهُ نُورًا نَهْدِي بِهِ مَنْ نَشَاءُ مِنْ عِبَادِنَا وَإِنَّكَ لَتَهْدِي إِلَى صِرَاطٍ مُسْتَقِيمٍ} [الشورى: ٥٢] (٥٢) {صِرَاطِ اللَّهِ الَّذِي لَهُ مَا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الْأَرْضِ أَلَا إِلَى اللَّهِ تَصِيرُ الْأُمُورُ} [الشورى: ٥٣]
