Al-Jawāb as-Sahīh li-man baddala dīn al-MasīhIbn Taimiya

My eye goes on searching for them even though they rest in its very pupil; my heart yearns for them while they are lodged between my ribs.

It was also said:
“Your image fills my sight, your mention is upon my tongue, and your dwelling is within my heart—so where could you possibly be absent?”

As for the mosques, they are the houses of Allah in which this reality becomes manifest. Hence the Most High says: “Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth; the likeness of His light is that of a niche that contains a lamp” (Qur’an 24:35).

Ubayy ibn Kaʿb commented, “The likeness of His light is in the hearts of the believers.”
He then says, “Light upon light” (Qur’an 24:35), and after that, “In houses which Allah has allowed to be raised and wherein His Name is remembered” (Qur’an 24:36).

Thus He, exalted is He, first mentioned His light in the hearts of the believers and then mentioned it in His houses—exactly as it was related in the earlier scriptures.

Concerning the ityān (coming), majīʾ (approach), and tajallī (manifestation), the Torah relates that Allah said to Moses, “Indeed, I will come to you in a dense cloud so that the people may hear Me speaking with you,” and it also states, “Gather seventy men from among the elders of the Children of Israel, and bring them…”
