Among the events that took place in that year was the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sending Khalid ibn al-Walid to the tribe of al-Harith ibn Kaʿb.
Ibn Ishaq relates: “The Messenger of Allah ﷺ dispatched Khalid in Rabiʿ al-Akhir—or in Jumada al-Ula—of the tenth year to Banu al-Harith ibn Kaʿb in Najran, instructing him to invite them to Islam before engaging them in combat,” and he went on to recount the entire story.
Then he said: “During the same year the delegation of al-Azd arrived, and in that year there also came…”
فَمِنَ الْحَوَادِثِ فِيهَا أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَعَثَ خَالِدَ بْنَ الْوَلِيدِ إِلَى بَنِي الْحَارِثِ بْنِ كَعْبٍ فَرَوَى ابْنُ إِسْحَاقَ قَالَ:
بَعَثَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَالِدًا فِي رَبِيعٍ الْآخَرِ أَوْ جُمَادَى الْأَوَّلِ فِي سَنَةِ عَشْرٍ إِلَى بَنِي الْحَارِثِ بْنِ كَعْبٍ بِنَجْرَانَ، وَأَمَرَهُ أَنْ يَدْعُوَهُمْ إِلَى الْإِسْلَامِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُقَاتِلَهُمْ، وَذَكَرَ الْقِصَّةَ،
ثُمَّ قَالَ:
وَفِيهَا قَدِمَ وَفْدُ الْأَزْدِ وَفِيهَا قَدِمَ
