“And to Him belongs the highest analogy in the heavens and on the earth.” [al-Rūm : 27]
He, exalted is He, also says:
“He is the One who is God in the heaven and God on earth.” [al-Zukhruf : 84]
And He says:
“He is Allah in the heavens and on the earth.” [al-Anʿām : 3]
Believers, then, know their Lord, love Him, worship Him, and remember Him; hence it is said, “He is in their hearts.” What is meant is their knowledge of Him, their love for Him, and their worship of Him—an intellectual exemplar, not His very essence. It is like a person saying to another, “You are in my heart; you have never left my heart and are ever before my eyes.” People likewise say:
“He dwells within the heart and gives it life; I never forget him, so I ever recall him.”
And they say:
“A house that you inhabit needs no lamps to light it.”
One poet said:
“How strange that I should yearn for them, asking everyone I meet about them while they are with me.”
