“A son shall rise up for David, a beacon of light. He will exercise sovereignty, teach and impart understanding, establish truth and justice on earth, and rescue all who believe in him—whether Jews from the Children of Israel or others. The Holy House will remain secure without warfare, and he will be called God.”

As for his words “a son for David,” that is because Mary was of David’s lineage; hence the prophet said, “A son shall rise up for David.”

Thus it may be said: Ezra the priest’s statement contains nothing more than his report that the Messiah will come and deliver peoples and nations. Muslims do not dispute this, for they affirm what Allah has stated in His Book about the coming of the Messiah, peace be upon him, and that, through him, Allah delivered every people and nation who believed in him until Muhammad—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—was sent.

Accordingly, anyone who believed in the Messiah and followed what was revealed to him, without distortion or alteration, Allah saved through the Messiah from the harms of this world and the Hereafter, just as Allah the Exalted saved, through Moses, those of the Children of Israel who followed him.
