I would have taken Abu Bakr as a close friend; yet your companion is the close friend of Allah—meaning himself.”
Seventh line of argument
They say: “Since subtle realities can only be manifested in dense bodies—such as the human soul and the like—then the Word of Allah by which those dense bodies were created must likewise appear in something wholly non-dense.”
It is said to them: The notion of “subtle realities appearing in dense bodies” is an ambiguous statement. If what you mean is that the human soul is present in its body, or that a jinn speaks through the tongue of a possessed person, and the like, then this is not the point under discussion. But if you mean that Allah Himself indwells in human beings, that is precisely the matter in dispute. Where, then, is your evidence, when everything you have cited actually points to the contrary?
Eighth line of argument
This is a claim for which there is no support from reason or revelation. No prophet has ever said that Allah indwells a human being, and no truthful person has ever claimed that the Lord has taken up residence in him. Such claims are made only by liars—like the Antichrist (al-Masīḥ al-Dajjāl) who will appear at the end of time and claim divinity—whereupon Allah, blessed and exalted, will send down Jesus, son of Mary
