Al-Jawāb as-Sahīh li-man baddala dīn al-MasīhIbn Taimiya

He also said:

“The likeness of Jesus in the sight of Allah is like that of Adam: He created him from dust, then said to him, ‘Be,’ and he was.” ⦗Al ʿImran 3:59⦘

And He said:

“That is Jesus, son of Mary—this is the true word about which they dispute. It is not for Allah to take a child unto Himself; exalted is He! When He decrees a matter, He only says to it, ‘Be,’ and it is.” ⦗Maryam 19:34–35⦘

Allah has, in several places in the Quran, informed us that He brings things into existence by His words, as in His statement:

“His command, when He intends a thing, is only that He says to it, ‘Be,’ and it is.” ⦗Yasin 36:82⦘

Likewise, the Torah reads: “Let there be the first day; let there be such-and-such, let there be such-and-such.”

Moreover, whether according to the view of those just mentioned, or according to those who hold that His speech is a single meaning, or five meanings, or letters and sounds that are one reality, all of them agree that speech is an attribute subsisting in the One described; it can in no way be imagined as a self-subsistent substance, nor can it be conceived as a creator, nor does speech possess a will of its own. It is not a substance distinct from the substance of the Speaker, nor does it unite with anyone other than the Speaker. Indeed, the majority of them further assert that it does not inhere in anyone besides the Speaker.

Even those among them who speak of indwelling do not claim that the indwelling entity is a substance or a divine creator. Thus, the falsity of the Christian doctrine stands proven in light of every position that people have put forward.
