Section: The Contradiction in Their Claim that “He Is Neither Divided nor Partitioned”

They say, “He is neither divided nor partitioned.” Yet this assertion clashes with what they themselves recite in their creed and with the very analogy they use to explain it. They liken Him to a ray of the sun, but a ray can in fact be divided and broken up: the portion that reaches a given spot is only a part of the whole, and one part can disappear while another remains. Place any object in the path of the beam and it will split the ray, so that the light above the barrier becomes a separator between the two lower rays.

This shows that the ray subsists in earth and air—both of which are composite and divisible. Whatever inheres in something divisible must itself be divisible, for an attribute follows the nature of its subject. Consequently, their own analogy necessarily entails division and partition in the one to whom they apply it.

They also maintain that the divinity united with the Messiah, that He ascended to heaven, and that He sat at the right hand of the Father. In their view, ever since the union took place, the divine nature has never separated from the human nature; rather, when he ascended to heaven and took his seat at the Father’s right hand, the one who ascended was the Messiah—at once complete God and complete man. Thus they do not say that the one seated at the Father’s right hand is merely the humanity; instead, it is the divinity united
