And He, exalted is He, also said:

“Those who say, ‘Allah is the third of three’ have certainly disbelieved.” (Quran, Al-Maʾidah 5:73)

And He said:

“Do not say, ‘Three.’ Desist; that is better for you.” (Quran, An-Nisaʾ 4:171)

and similar verses.

They further argue, “He has likewise said in this Book: ‘Our Word has already gone forth to Our righteous servants.’”

It is said to them: You have altered both the wording and the meaning of the verse, for its actual wording is:

“And indeed, Our Word has already gone forth to Our messengers” (Quran, As-Saffat 37:171) (171)

“Indeed, it is they who will be helped” (As-Saffat 37:172) (172)

“and surely Our army will be the victors.” (As-Saffat 37:173)

Thus, the Word that had already gone forth on behalf of His messengers is His statement: “Indeed, it is they who will be helped” (As-Saffat 37:172).

He has informed that a prior decree from Him guaranteed victory for His messengers, just as He, the Most High, said:

“Had it not been for a Word that had already issued from your Lord and an appointed term, the punishment would have been inevitable.” (Quran, Ta-Ha 20:129)
