Section: Their Naming of God’s Knowledge and Speech as “the Son,” and Their Naming of His Life as “the Holy Spirit”
This, then, is the passage they quote from their own book, adducing it as evidence for the three hypostases in which they believe. They claim:
“Calling God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are names that we Christians did not invent for Him on our own; rather, God Himself designated His divinity with them.”
It has become clear, however, that nothing they have transmitted from the prophets—neither in explicit wording nor in outward sense—indicates that any prophet ever referred to God, or to any of His attributes, as “Son” or “Holy Spirit.”
Equally clear is that their naming of God’s knowledge and speech “the Son,” and their naming of His life “the Holy Spirit,” are fabricated designations for which Allah has sent down no authority. They have no proof whatsoever for the hypostases they assert—neither textual nor rational—and their doctrine of the Trinity, confining Allah’s attributes to three, rests on no scriptural foundation.
Nor does it have any rational foundation. Such people are among those of whom it is said:
“They will say, ‘If only we had listened or reasoned, we would not now be among the inhabitants of the Blaze.’” (Quran, Al-Mulk 67:10)
and among those of whom it is said:
“Do you think that most of them listen or reason? They are but like cattle; rather, they are even further astray from the way.” (Quran, Al-Furqan 25:44)
