Section: Refuting Their Appeal to Baptism as Proof of the Three Hypostases

They argue:
“The Lord Messiah said in the Holy Gospel to his pure disciples: ‘Go to all nations and baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit—the one God—and teach them to observe everything I have commanded you.’”

We reply:
This is the passage on which you build your claim of three hypostases, yet it contains nothing—explicitly or implicitly—that supports such a doctrine. The word “son” is never used in the revealed books to designate one of God’s attributes. None of the prophets ever called God’s knowledge His son, nor did they refer to His speech as His son. What you do find, according to your own texts, is that a servant—or servants—of God may be called His “son” or “sons.”

Accordingly, your assertion that the Messiah intended “the Son of God” or “God’s Speech” when he used the term is a blatant fabrication against him. It forces his words to bear a meaning that neither he nor anyone else ever gave them, whether literally or figuratively. What could be a greater lie or a more serious distortion of the prophets’ words than this?

Had the term “son” ever been employed for a divine attribute, then God’s life would also have been called a son, and His power a son. Therefore, restricting the title “son” to knowledge alone—and not to life—is a second error, if indeed
