For this very reason He gathered the whole matter together in His words—Most High is He:
“ The Word of your Lord has been perfected in truth and in justice” (Q 6:115).
Likewise, He says:
“Say: If the sea were ink for [writing] my Lord’s words, the sea would run dry before my Lord’s words were exhausted, even if We brought another sea like it to replenish it” (Q 18:109).
The point of all these verses is that whatever Allah says is a firm and lasting truth that can never be undone. Thus He, Exalted is He, says:
“ The most excellent Word of your Lord was fulfilled for the Children of Israel because they persevered” (Q 7:137)—meaning that its fulfilment consisted in carrying out what He had promised them: victory over Pharaoh, his destruction, and their deliverance to al-Shām.
He also says, Most High is He:
“ The Word of your Lord has been perfected in truth and in justice” (Q 6:115),
and similarly:
“Recite what has been revealed to you from the Book of your Lord; none can alter His words” (Q 18:27).
