Accordingly, if this wording is indeed authentically traced back to the Prophet and rendered with a sound translation, its meaning may be that the angel formed me in my mother’s womb and that he is the one who instructs me. For the Prophet ﷺ said:

“When forty-two nights have elapsed over the drop of fluid, Allah sends an angel to it who shapes it and creates its hearing, its sight, its skin, its flesh, and its bones. Then he says, ‘My Lord, male or female?’ and your Lord decrees whatever He wills, and the angel records it. Then he says, ‘My Lord, its lifespan?’ and your Lord decrees whatever He wills, and the angel records it. Then he says, ‘My Lord, its provision?’ and your Lord decrees whatever He wills, and the angel records it. The angel then departs with the scroll in his hand; nothing will be added to it nor taken from it.”

Muslim narrated it from Hudhayfah ibn Usayd al-Ghifari.

It may likewise be said: this is the statement found in the Zabur, in the Psalm of Creation: “You send forth Your Spirit, and they are created,” and in another Psalm He said: “He spoke and they came to be; He commanded and they were created.” Hence, creation can be ascribed to an angel.
