Allah—exalted is He—says:
“Of what you have trained of hunting animals, teaching them as Allah has taught you” (al-Maʾidah 5:4).

The Prophet—peace and blessings be upon him—said: “When you release your trained dog, mention the name of Allah, and it kills the game, then eat of it.”

There is no doubt that knowledge is a perfection; the one who knows is more complete than the ignorant. The evidences attesting to Allah’s knowledge are many, such as the fact that—glorified be He—He is the Creator of all things by His will. Will necessarily entails a conception of that which is willed, so He must know the creatures before creating them.

Everything that exists outside the mind exists in a determinate, particularized manner that distinguishes it from anything else. Since He brings things into being in this specific fashion, He must know them with detailed knowledge whereby every known entity is set apart from all others. Were it supposed that He knew them only in a universal sense, that would not constitute knowing anything of them,
