As for your claim: “We observed that created things fall into two classes—living and non-living—and therefore attributed to Him the nobler of the two, declaring that He is living so as to deny death of Him,” the answer is:
There is no doubt that Allah is living, as His revealed Books—His verbal signs—affirm, and as His signs in the realm of creation—His practical, visible signs—likewise demonstrate. The Exalted has said:
“We shall show them Our signs in the horizons and within themselves until it becomes clear to them that it is the truth.” ⦗Fussilat 53⦘
—that is, that the Qur’an is true. The Qur’an had already been alluded to in His statement:
“Say: ‘Tell me, if it is from Allah and then you disbelieve in it, who is further astray than someone steeped in deep dissension?’” ⦗Fussilat 52⦘.
Thus Allah, exalted be He, displays to His servants, through the observable, tangible signs of His actions, that which confirms the truth of His revealed, audible, verbal signs.
He, the Exalted, also says:
“Allah—there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of all.” ⦗Āl ʿImrān 2⦘.
