He, exalted be He, also said:

“And of everything We created pairs so that you might take heed. So flee to Allah—indeed, I am to you from Him a clear warner. And do not set up with Allah another deity—indeed, I am to you from Him a clear warner.” (adh-Dhāriyāt 49–51)

He has further declared that this is precisely how the unbelievers treated the prophets before him, as He said:

“Thus, whenever a messenger came to those before them, they would say, ‘A sorcerer or a madman!’ Have they bequeathed this attitude to one another? No—rather, they are a people who exceed all bounds.” (adh-Dhāriyāt 52–53)

He, exalted be He, also said:

“Nothing is said to you except what was said to the messengers before you.” (Fussilat 43)

And He said:

“In the same way We appointed for every prophet enemies—devils from humankind and jinn—who whisper to one another adorned speech in order to deceive. Had your Lord willed, they would not have done so; so leave them to their inventions.” (al-Anʿām 112)

The Almighty has likewise informed us that the disbelievers said of Moses—peace be upon him—that he was a sorcerer and that he was mad. Pharaoh declared:

“Your messenger who has been sent to you is indeed a madman.” (ash-Shuʿarāʾ 27)

And He said:

“They said, ‘O sorcerer, call upon your Lord for us….’” (az-Zukhruf 49)
