“And We granted them the clear Scripture (117)
and We guided them to the straight path.” (118) [Al-Ṣāffāt: 117–118]
He—exalted is He—also says:
“Indeed We have granted you a manifest victory (1)
so that Allah may forgive you your past and future sins, perfect His favor upon you, and guide you to a straight path, (2)
and so that Allah may grant you a mighty help.” (3) [Al-Fatḥ: 1–3]
This special guidance that He gave him after the Treaty of al-Ḥudaybiyyah is even more particular than what preceded it, for the one journeying toward Allah keeps drawing nearer to Him step by step, and Allah increases him in guidance upon guidance. The most upright and most complete of all paths is the path with which Allah sent His Prophet Muḥammad—may Allah bless him and grant him peace—just as the Exalted says:
“Indeed, this Qur’an guides to that which is most upright.” [Al-Isrāʾ: 9]
