Al-Jawāb as-Sahīh li-man baddala dīn al-MasīhIbn Taimiya

Then the Exalted One said:

“And it is not the devils who have brought this down; it is neither proper for them nor are they able. They are kept far away from any hearing. So do not invoke another god alongside Allah, lest you become one of those who are punished. Warn your nearest kinsfolk, and lower your wing to those believers who follow you. But if they disobey you, say, ‘I am absolved of what you do.’ Put your trust in the Almighty, the Most Merciful, who sees you when you stand for prayer and your movements among those who prostrate themselves; He alone is the All-hearing, the All-knowing.

Shall I inform you upon whom the devils descend? They descend upon every habitual liar, every sinner. They eavesdrop, and most of them are liars. As for the poets—the misled follow them. Do you not see that they wander in every valley and say what they do not do?—except for those who believe, perform righteous deeds, remember Allah often, and defend themselves after they have been wronged; the wrongdoers will soon know what fate awaits them.” (al-Shuʿarāʾ 210–227)

And He, exalted be He, said:

“Do not dispute with the People of the Book except in the manner that is best—except with those of them who act unjustly—and say, ‘We believe in what has been sent down to us and what has been sent down to you; our God and your God is One, and to Him we submit.’ Thus We have sent down the Book to you. Those to whom We gave the Scripture before believe in it, and among these people are some who believe in it. None reject Our signs except the unbelievers.

You never recited any scripture before this, nor did you write it with your right hand; had you done so, those bent on falsehood would have doubted. Rather, it consists of clear revelations preserved in the hearts of those granted knowledge. None deny Our signs except the unjust.

They say, ‘Why have no miracles been sent down to him from his Lord?’ Say, ‘Miracles are entirely with Allah; I am only a clear warner.’ Is it not enough for them that We have sent down to you the Book that is recited to them? In that there is certainly mercy and a reminder for people who believe.

Say, ‘Allah is sufficient as a witness between me and you. He knows whatever is in the heavens and the earth. Those who believe in falsehood and disbelieve in Allah—it is they who are the losers.’

They press you to hasten the punishment. Had it not been for an appointed term, the punishment would already have come upon them, and it will surely overtake them suddenly while they are unaware. They ask you to hasten the punishment, yet Hell is indeed encircling the disbelievers—on the Day when the punishment will overwhelm them from above them and from beneath their feet, and He will say, ‘Taste what you used to do.’” (al-ʿAnkabūt 46–55)

ثُمَّ قَالَ تَعَالَى: {وَمَا تَنَزَّلَتْ بِهِ الشَّيَاطِينُ - وَمَا يَنْبَغِي لَهُمْ وَمَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ - إِنَّهُمْ عَنِ السَّمْعِ لَمَعْزُولُونَ - فَلَا تَدْعُ مَعَ اللَّهِ إِلَهًا آخَرَ فَتَكُونَ مِنَ الْمُعَذَّبِينَ - وَأَنْذِرْ عَشِيرَتَكَ الْأَقْرَبِينَ - وَاخْفِضْ جَنَاحَكَ لِمَنِ اتَّبَعَكَ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ - فَإِنْ عَصَوْكَ فَقُلْ إِنِّي بَرِيءٌ مِمَّا تَعْمَلُونَ - وَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى الْعَزِيزِ الرَّحِيمِ - الَّذِي يَرَاكَ حِينَ تَقُومُ - وَتَقَلُّبَكَ فِي السَّاجِدِينَ - إِنَّهُ هُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ - هَلْ أُنَبِّئُكُمْ عَلَى مَنْ تَنَزَّلُ الشَّيَاطِينُ - تَنَزَّلُ عَلَى كُلِّ أَفَّاكٍ أَثِيمٍ - يُلْقُونَ السَّمْعَ وَأَكْثَرُهُمْ كَاذِبُونَ - وَالشُّعَرَاءُ يَتَّبِعُهُمُ الْغَاوُونَ - أَلَمْ تَرَ أَنَّهُمْ فِي كُلِّ وَادٍ يَهِيمُونَ - وَأَنَّهُمْ يَقُولُونَ مَا لَا يَفْعَلُونَ - إِلَّا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ وَذَكَرُوا اللَّهَ كَثِيرًا وَانْتَصَرُوا مِنْ بَعْدِ مَا ظُلِمُوا وَسَيَعْلَمُ الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا أَيَّ مُنْقَلَبٍ يَنْقَلِبُونَ} [الشعراء: ٢١٠ - ٢٢٧] . وَقَالَ تَعَالَى: {وَلَا تُجَادِلُوا أَهْلَ الْكِتَابِ إِلَّا بِالَّتِي هِيَ أَحْسَنُ إِلَّا الَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا مِنْهُمْ وَقُولُوا آمَنَّا بِالَّذِي أُنْزِلَ إِلَيْنَا وَأُنْزِلَ إِلَيْكُمْ وَإِلَهُنَا وَإِلَهُكُمْ وَاحِدٌ وَنَحْنُ لَهُ مُسْلِمُونَ - وَكَذَلِكَ أَنْزَلْنَا إِلَيْكَ الْكِتَابَ فَالَّذِينَ آتَيْنَاهُمُ الْكِتَابَ يُؤْمِنُونَ بِهِ وَمِنْ هَؤُلَاءِ مَنْ يُؤْمِنُ بِهِ وَمَا يَجْحَدُ بِآيَاتِنَا إِلَّا الْكَافِرُونَ - وَمَا كُنْتَ تَتْلُو مِنْ قَبْلِهِ مِنْ كِتَابٍ وَلَا تَخُطُّهُ بِيَمِينِكَ إِذًا لَارْتَابَ الْمُبْطِلُونَ - بَلْ هُوَ آيَاتٌ بَيِّنَاتٌ فِي صُدُورِ الَّذِينَ أُوتُوا الْعِلْمَ وَمَا يَجْحَدُ بِآيَاتِنَا إِلَّا الظَّالِمُونَ - وَقَالُوا لَوْلَا أُنْزِلَ عَلَيْهِ آيَاتٌ مِنْ رَبِّهِ قُلْ إِنَّمَا الْآيَاتُ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ وَإِنَّمَا أَنَا نَذِيرٌ مُبِينٌ - أَوَلَمْ يَكْفِهِمْ أَنَّا أَنْزَلْنَا عَلَيْكَ الْكِتَابَ يُتْلَى عَلَيْهِمْ إِنَّ فِي ذَلِكَ لَرَحْمَةً وَذِكْرَى لِقَوْمٍ يُؤْمِنُونَ - قُلْ كَفَى بِاللَّهِ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَكُمْ شَهِيدًا يَعْلَمُ مَا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا بِالْبَاطِلِ وَكَفَرُوا بِاللَّهِ أُولَئِكَ هُمُ الْخَاسِرُونَ - وَيَسْتَعْجِلُونَكَ بِالْعَذَابِ وَلَوْلَا أَجَلٌ مُسَمًّى لَجَاءَهُمُ الْعَذَابُ وَلَيَأْتِيَنَّهُمْ بَغْتَةً وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ - يَسْتَعْجِلُونَكَ بِالْعَذَابِ وَإِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ لَمُحِيطَةٌ بِالْكَافِرِينَ - يَوْمَ يَغْشَاهُمُ الْعَذَابُ مِنْ فَوْقِهِمْ وَمِنْ تَحْتِ أَرْجُلِهِمْ وَيَقُولُ ذُوقُوا مَا كُنْتُمْ تَعْمَلُونَ} [العنكبوت: ٤٦ - ٥٥] .
