He then prayed: “O Allah, Revealer of the Book, (1) Dispatcher of the clouds, Vanquisher of the confederates—vanquish them and grant us victory over them.” Agreed upon. Allah alone grants success.
4 – Chapter on Truthfulness
Allah the Exalted says: “O you who believe, be mindful of Allah and keep the company of the truthful.” (al-Tawbah 9:119)
He also says: “The men who are truthful and the women who are truthful.” (al-Aḥzāb 33:35)
And He says: “Had they been true to Allah, it would have been better for them.” (Muḥammad 47:21)
As for the prophetic sayings:
55 – First: Ibn Masʿūd (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet ﷺ said, “Truthfulness leads to righteousness, (2) and righteousness leads to Paradise. A man continues to speak the truth until he is written with Allah as a most truthful one. Lying leads to depravity, and depravity leads to the Fire. A man continues to lie until he is written with Allah as an inveterate liar.” Agreed upon.
56 – Second: Abū Muḥammad al-Ḥasan ibn ʿAlī ibn Abī Ṭālib (may Allah be pleased with them both) said, “I memorised from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ: ‘Leave whatever makes you doubtful for that which leaves you in no doubt; for truthfulness brings serenity, whereas falsehood is sheer misgiving.’” Related by al-Tirmidhī, (3) who declared it sound.
Concerning his words yarībuka (causes you doubt): it may be read with the initial yāʾ either fatḥa or ḍamma. It means: abandon that whose permissibility you doubt and turn instead to that about which you have no doubt.
