330 – Chapter: The disapproval of calling grapes “karm”
1749 – Abū Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “Do not call grapes karm, for the karm is the Muslim.” Agreed upon, and this is Muslim’s wording.
Another narration states, “Rather, the karm is the heart of the believer.” A third version in both al-Bukhārī and Muslim reads, “People say, ‘the karm,’ but in fact the karm is the heart of the believer.”
1750 – Wāʾil ibn Ḥujr (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet ﷺ said, “Do not say, ‘the karm’; instead say, ‘grapes’ (al-ʿinab) and ‘the vine’ (al-ḥablah).” Recorded by Muslim.
Al-ḥablah is read with an open ḥāʾ and bāʾ, though some read the bāʾ at rest.
331 – Chapter: The prohibition of a woman describing another woman’s appearance to a man, except when a legitimate sharʿī need exists, such as proposing marriage.
1751 – Ibn Masʿūd (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “A woman must not touch another woman and then describe her to her husband as though he were looking at her.” Agreed upon.
332 – Chapter: The disapproval of saying, “O Allah, forgive me if You will,” but rather one should ask with resolve.
1752 – Abū Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, “None of you should ever say, ‘O Allah, forgive me if You wish; O Allah, have mercy on me if You wish.’ Let him be resolute in his request, for no one can compel Him.” Agreed upon.
Muslim adds: “Rather, let him ask with determination and let him make his hope great, for nothing that Allah, exalted is He, gives is too tremendous for Him.”
